Sessional Youth Workers, 3-12 hrs per week

We're excited to share that our DICE Futures project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund until January 2028, is looking for new sessional youth workers!

Our DICE Futures Project focuses on helping young people aged 10 to 16 in Bangor, especially in

Breezemount, Bloomfield, Clandeboye, Conlig and Whitehill.

We run six youth clubs every week (Monday to Friday from 6:30PM to 9:00PM) with lots of activities. Whether it’s personal development, competitive dodgeball, or messy art and cooking sessions, there’s something for everyone! We also have special activities during summer, easter, and half-term breaks. Our goal is to help young people build better futures. We focus on education support and personal development experiences to help them become more resilient, self-aware, and healthier, giving them the skills and experiences they need to succeed in life.

Youth work is more than just keeping young people entertained. It takes enthusiasm, commitment, and consistency to build strong relationships and a supportive environment. We’re looking for youth workers who can connect with and inspire young people, creating an environment where young people feel empowered to achieve their dreams! This means creating and delivering activities that are fun and engaging, and that actually help young people learn something about themselves and/or the world around them.

How to get involved:

If you can commit 3-12 hours each week consistently, meet the enhanced Access NI requirements, share 2 references (not family/friends that we can speak to), and want to join our team, we’d love to hear from you! The sessional rate is £15 per hour.

Please send us your 'Expression of Interest’ answering the questions below. You can be creative about how you tell us about yourself, whatever you prefer; a document, presentation or even a video if you want.

1. What made you interested in youth work, and why do you want to join the DICE Futures project?

2. What experience in youth work do you have that can help our young people?

3. What do you think is needed to help young people reach their goals?

4. What activities or programmes do you think would engage and develop young people in our community?

5. What do you think people often misunderstand about youth work?

6. No one is finished learning, what skills would you like to improve on, and how are you working on them? We value honesty and self-reflection!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at manager@ndcn.co.uk or call 02891 461386.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Please email your EOI to me by Fri 14th Feb 2025.
