Art Classes

‘Wise the Bap’ is an art class established in 2004 to offer adults from local communities in North Down access to the arts: to learn new skills, develop talents and confidence, and to express their views about issues of relevance or importance to them through a variety of art media, and all in a safe and comfortable environment.

Participants will create a portfolio of their individual art work as well as having the opportunity to contribute to group projects. Classes are usually, but not always, led by an experienced artist and are typically themed around health or social issues, giving focus to the work. No artistic flair or experience needed. These classes take place in cycles of 4 - 6 weeks and are delivered in accessible community spaces. If you would like to have a go please get in touch!

Classes are free but there may be some costs for resources, materials, etc. To find out more about the courses and workshops available, please see our activity information below or contact Lindsey Hall on 028 9146 1386 or email: ndcncommunityhealth@gmail.com

Ukulele Group

Ever wanted to learn to play a musical instrument but doubted your ability or you simply haven’t got round to it yet? Well this is as good a place as any to start. Ukuleles are relatively inexpensive, fairly easy to learn to play and the best of craic. The sessions are run as workshops with guidance provided through screened tutorials and the added experience of those who attend regularly. Go at your own pace, learn in your own way, and contribute to making a joyous sound in our in-house jamming sessions. You can’t help but love it. We have a couple of ukes available to practice on in-house while you decide if you want to shell out for your own. This weekly session takes place in Trinity Presbyterian Church Main Street Bangor. Creative Writing

Write Club is for anyone who wants to try their hand at writing. These are active workshops where participants have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and styles of writing.  The sessions are very informal, relaxed and therapeutic, although they are not offered as a ‘therapy’. Running in cycles of 4-6 weeks and delivered in Bloomfield Community House 189 Ballyree Drive Bangor, participants are set a challenge to create a new piece of writing but there are no tests, no exams, no criticisms and no pressure. But lots of fun!  Not sure? Try it and see. For more information please email: admin@ndcn.co.uk or call: 02891 461386
