Rural Support is delighted to announce that it is to extend its ‘Tackling Rural Stress: Promoting Positive Mental Health’ project until March 2016.

With funding from the Public Health Agency (PHA), Rural Support will continue to help address the financial stress which farmers and farm families are currently under and also the impact which stress can have on an individual’s health and wellbeing.

The project is aimed at those experiencing debt or financial issues relating to the farm business and where stress is impacting mental health and well-being.  We will provide free, face to face sessions with a finance mentor who will support families to address farm business debt or financial problems and help identify a way forward.

The project which was initially launched in September 2014 and has had substantial uptake, among farmers, farm families and rural dwellers, availing of the one-to-one mentoring being provided to address financial problems.  This project has already demonstrated significant health and wellbeing benefits and clients are extremely positive about the specialised and practical support provided.  We would like to thank you for your help with promoting this initiative – a poster is available by clicking here Rural Support – Financial Stress for circulation to your colleagues and clients.

If you are working with clients who could benefit from this support then please encourage them to contact our confidential helpline on 0845 606 7 607.
