Friends of the Earth: B&Q has just announced that it will stop selling plants grown with bee-harming pesticides:
(Excerpt) “This is fantastic news! Like many gardeners I want my garden to be bee-friendly. But if the plants I buy at garden centres contain harmful neonicotinoid pesticides (), they may not be that friendly to bees after all. Three key neonics have been found to pose a ‘high acute risk’ to honeybees and there’s growing evidence they could be harming other precious pollinators too. It’s not fair on the bees if gardeners are unknowingly buying plants that contain harmful pesticides. Together we can raise the alarm and ask retailers to make sure this stops.”
