Hundreds of business volunteers will be poised and ready to provide FREE digital skills support, helping people over the age of 50 to get to grips with the Internet, email, Skype and social media.
Located in libraries across Northern Ireland, Silver Surfers’ Days are back by popular demand – both from older people and from the volunteers.
The BBC technology bus is coming along to Bangor Carnegie Library, staffed with IT specialists who will be demonstrating for example – Basic IT skills, Social Media (Skype/Twitter, Facebook etc.) – they will also show how to access internet and have onboard some iPads and demonstrations of how to use the iPad will be given. Just pop onboard the bus which will be placed outside the front door of Bangor Carnegie Library, people do not need to book for the BBC bus but they need to book for the Silver Surfers’ sessions within the library prior to the day.
These events are organised by Business in the Community in partnership with the Department of Finance and Personnel, and supported by Libraries NI.
