New initiative Caring Communities Safe and Well for people 65 years and over across the South Eastern HSC Trust area.

This new initiative will provide three Caring Communities Officers (Lisburn, Down, Ards & North Down) who will provide signposting and referral to a range of services creating opportunities for an older person to meet new people, get out and about, keep active and healthy, have safe and secure homes and access information and advice.

The Caring Communities Officers will also support an older person (as required) by linking them with a Volunteer Befriender (Volunteer Befriending will be developed within the South Eastern HSC Trust) it will be to enable an older people to get out of their four walls, however there will also be an element of longer term befriending for those people who can no long go out of the home (as per specified referral criteria).
